How to Collect Course Feedback
This guide shows how to enable feedback widgets in Skill Studio AI to gather learner input on courses via star ratings, thumbs up/down, and text comments. Use it when launching new training modules or after updates to measure effectiveness and drive improvements.
Before You Start
Skill Studio AI admin account with course creation permissions.
At least one published course or module ready for learner feedback.
Access to Settings menu in the Skill Studio AI dashboard.
Familiarity with your target learner audience and desired feedback types.
Steps
Log in to Skill Studio AI dashboard — Access your admin account and navigate to the main dashboard to ensure you have full editing rights for courses and settings.
Go to Settings → Feedback — From the dashboard sidebar, select Settings and click the Feedback section to open configuration options for widgets.
Choose feedback types — Enable star ratings, thumbs up/down, and/or text comments based on what input you need; toggle each type on to activate it for courses.
Set widget placement — Configure prompts to appear at course completion, per module end, or on demand to capture feedback at optimal moments without disrupting flow.
Apply changes and test — Save settings, preview a course as a learner, and submit sample feedback to verify widgets display correctly across devices.
Publish and monitor — Assign the course to learners, then return to the Feedback page to start reviewing initial responses.
Review feedback data — Navigate to the dedicated Feedback page, apply filters by course, rating, or date to analyze trends and identify low-rated content.
Tips & Best Practices
Start with 2-3 feedback types to avoid overwhelming learners; add more after initial testing.
Place widgets at module ends for granular insights, especially in multi-section compliance courses.
Track trends monthly to spot courses needing updates, correlating feedback with completion rates.
Enable multi-language support in widgets to match your global learner base.
Export feedback data via SCORM for integration with external LMS analytics tools.
Troubleshooting
Feedback widgets not appearing in courses
Verify settings are saved and course is republished; clear browser cache or test in incognito mode.
No feedback data showing on Feedback page
Check if learners have completed courses with prompts enabled; confirm filters aren't hiding recent entries.
Widget prompts interrupting course flow
Switch placement to "on demand" only and limit to course completion for less intrusive collection.
