How to export a SCORM object

Learn how to export courses as SCORM objects, ready for use in your LMS.

All Skill Studio AI accounts can export courses via SCORM in both SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 formats to share on an LMS.

Step 1: Open the course you want to export in Cretor Edit mode. Open the “Download” modal

In the top-right toolbar, click Export as SCORM to open the export panel. Simply click the “Download” button, located either on the course card within your dashboard or at the top of your screen while inside the course. This will reveal the course share modal.

Step 2: Exporting SCORM into other LMS

Choose from 4 options to export the SCORM content

Under Target LMS Platform, choose the LMS you will upload to (for example Moodle, Canvas, Docebo, Cornerstone, SAP SuccessFactors, Open edX, or select Other / Generic LMS if yours is not listed).

Exporting into Dynamic or Static SCORM

In Export Type, choose one of the following:

Static – creates a full SCORM package with all content embedded; upload a new file each time you update the course.

Dynamic (Auto-Update) – creates a lightweight launcher (around 5 KB) that streams live content from Skill Studio AI; any edits you publish will automatically appear in your LMS without re‑uploading.

Review SCORM package content

Review Package contents to confirm what will be included (modules, content blocks, completion tracking, score reporting for quizzes, AI personalization, and instant content updates for Dynamic exports).

Click Download Dynamic or Static SCORM

Click Download Static SCORM or Download Dynamic SCORM (depending on the option you selected). Please check that you are in the right version.

Save the downloaded .zip file and upload it to your LMS following that system’s SCORM upload process (for example, adding it as a new SCORM course or lesson).

Choosing the right SCORM format

Review Package contents to confirm what will be included (modules, content blocks, completion tracking, score reporting for quizzes, AI personalization, and instant content updates for Dynamic exports).

Dynamic SCORM

Dynamic SCORM keeps your course up-to-date by maintaining a live connection to Coassemble. Any edits you make in Coassemble are automatically reflected for your learners—no need to re-export or re-upload. This option is included on all plans.

Static SCORM

This option allows your course to function independently of Skill Studio AI—ideal for platforms that don’t allow external connections. However, because it’s a static package, any changes you make in Skill Studio AI will not update automatically. You’ll need to re-export and reupload the file to your LMS, HRIS, or other system whenever you want to update the course content.

Decide where can your SCORM be shared

Skill Studio AI SCORM packages work with all LMSs. For added security, dynamic SCORMs offer three usage options: - Anywhere: Unrestricted access on any LMS. - Only sites I choose (allowlist): Restricts hosting to authorized domains. Click 'Configure' to add domains, then 'Save' to apply. - Nowhere (disabled): Deactivates the SCORM package so it cannot be launched. Choose 'Nowhere (SCORM is disabled)' if you want to completely deactivate the SCORM object, rendering it inoperable on any LMS. Note: Changing these security settings will affect all previously downloaded SCORM objects associated with this course, regardless of the format you've downloaded it in.

Download your SCORM file

Once you've finished configuring your course's SCORM settings click the 'Export SCORM file' button on the bottom of the modal. This will download the SCORM package onto your computer, ready for you to upload into your LMS.
