How to Use Screen Templates

This guide shows how to apply pre-designed screen templates in Skill Studio AI for consistent layouts across your courses. Use it when building training modules to save time on styling content, quizzes, and interactions.

Before You Start

  • A Skill Studio AI account with active course creation access.

  • An existing course project or new course started in the platform.

  • Familiarity with basic course building, like adding screens.

  • Prepared content assets such as text, images, or quiz questions.

  • Access to Settings menu for template management.

Steps

  1. Add a new screen to your course — Navigate to your course editor, click the "+" button to insert a new screen, and select the screen type like content or quiz.

  2. Browse available templates — In the screen addition panel, filter templates by screen type to view options categorized as Content Templates or Quiz Templates.

  3. Select and apply a template — Choose a template such as single column for text-heavy screens or styled quiz layout, then click apply to load the pre-designed layout with text placements, image positions, and styling.

  4. Edit template content — Replace placeholder text, images, or elements with your course-specific content while keeping the consistent styling intact; adjust as needed without altering core layout.

  5. Preview the screen — Use the preview mode to check layout consistency across devices and ensure interactive elements like quizzes display feedback and scores properly.

  6. Save changes and repeat — Save the screen, then add subsequent screens using the same templates for uniformity; test the full course flow.

  7. Manage templates in Settings — Go to Settings > Templates to view all available templates, organized by category.

  8. Create custom template — Build a screen with your desired layout, then select "Save as Template" to add it for reuse in future courses.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Start with Content Templates like image-left or two-column for balanced text and visuals to enhance engagement.

  • Use Quiz Templates to standardize answer buttons and feedback areas, ensuring brand-aligned assessments.

  • Test templates in multi-language mode if delivering global training to verify layout adaptability.

  • Combine templates with AI avatars for narrated screens to maintain human-like consistency.

Troubleshooting

Template not appearing in browser

Refresh the screen addition panel or check Settings > Templates for updates; ensure your account has template access enabled.

Content overflows template layout

Shorten text or resize images; switch to a full-bleed background template if heavy visuals are needed.

Custom template fails to save

Verify the screen has no errors, then retry "Save as Template"; contact support if persistent.
