How to Export SCORM from Skill Studio
This guide shows how to export Skill Studio AI courses as SCORM packages for seamless integration into external LMS platforms like Moodle or Canvas. Use it when you need to deliver training in your existing learning management system.
Before You Start
A published Skill Studio AI course ready for export.
Access to the course settings in your Skill Studio dashboard.
An external LMS account (e.g., Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard) for importing the package.
Knowledge of your LMS's preferred SCORM version (1.2 for compatibility, 2004 for advanced features).
Sufficient storage space to download the ZIP package.
Steps
Navigate to course settings — Open your Skill Studio dashboard, select the published course, and access the settings menu where export options are located.
Click Export SCORM — In the course settings, locate and click the "Export SCORM" button to initiate the export process.
Select SCORM version — Choose SCORM 1.2 for wider LMS compatibility or SCORM 2004 for advanced features like sequencing and navigation control.
Generate the package — Confirm your selection; Skill Studio will package all screens, quizzes, media, and interactive elements into a single ZIP file.
Download the ZIP package — Once generated, download the SCORM-compliant ZIP file to your computer for upload to your external LMS.
Verify package contents — Unzip briefly to confirm inclusion of all course elements, then re-zip if needed before LMS import.
Import into your LMS — Upload the ZIP to your LMS (e.g., Moodle via "SCORM package" activity, Canvas via SCORM tool) following platform-specific instructions.
Tips & Best Practices
Use **SCORM 1.2** for maximum compatibility across LMS platforms like Moodle and Blackboard.
Test the exported package in a LMS sandbox before full deployment to ensure quizzes and interactions function correctly.
Include clear course metadata during export for better tracking of completion and scores in your LMS.
Troubleshooting
Export button is grayed out or missing
Ensure the course is fully published; republish if necessary and refresh the settings page.
ZIP file fails to import in LMS
Verify SCORM version matches your LMS requirements; try SCORM 1.2 if 2004 fails, and check file isn't corrupted during download.
Interactive elements don't work post-import
Confirm LMS supports SCORM interactivity; test in multiple platforms and regenerate the package if issues persist.
