How to Export Courses as SCORM Files

6 steps

What You'll Accomplish

This guide walks you through exporting your Skill Studio AI course as a SCORM package in either Static or Dynamic format, so you can upload it to any LMS platform. You'll learn how to configure your export settings, choose the right SCORM version, and download your file ready for LMS integration.

1

Step 1 of 6

Click the Download button to open the export modal.

Navigate to the course you want to export and locate the Download button in the top-right toolbar (or on the course card in your dashboard). Clicking this button opens the SCORM export panel where you'll configure all your export settings.

2

Step 2 of 6

Select your target LMS platform under Target LMS Platform.

Choose the LMS where you'll be uploading your course (such as Moodle, Canvas, Docebo, Cornerstone, SAP SuccessFactors, or Open edX). If your LMS isn't listed, select "Other / Generic LMS" to ensure compatibility with your specific platform.

3

Step 3 of 6

Choose your export type: Static or Dynamic SCORM.

Under Export Type, select either Static (a complete package with all content embedded; requires re-uploading when you make updates) or Dynamic/Auto-Update (a lightweight launcher that streams live content from Skill Studio AI and automatically reflects any published changes in your LMS without re-uploading).

4

Step 4 of 6

Select your SCORM format version (1.2 or 2004).

Choose between SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 depending on which format your LMS supports. Both versions are compatible with Skill Studio AI and will include modules, content blocks, completion tracking, and quiz score reporting in your exported package.

5

Step 5 of 6

Configure security settings for where your SCORM can be shared.

For Dynamic SCORM packages, you can set usage restrictions: choose "Anywhere" for unrestricted access on any LMS, "Only sites I choose (allowlist)" to restrict hosting to specific approved domains (click Configure to add them), or "Nowhere (disabled)" to deactivate the SCORM package entirely. These settings apply to all previously downloaded versions of this course.

6

Step 6 of 6

Click Export SCORM file to download your package.

Once all your settings are configured, click the "Export SCORM file" button at the bottom of the modal. Your SCORM package will download as a .zip file to your computer. Save this file and follow your LMS's SCORM upload process to add it as a new course or lesson.

You're all set!

Your course is now packaged as a SCORM file and ready to upload to your LMS. If you chose Dynamic SCORM, any future edits you publish in Skill Studio AI will automatically update in your LMS without needing to re-export; if you chose Static SCORM, remember to re-export and re-upload whenever you want to push updates to your learners.
